That’s what’s happening in the parking lot

I need new music to listen to. Someone hook me up with some good ideas. Last night I picked up J Dilla’s Donuts (R.I.P), the Gnarls Barkley album and Reasonable Doubt. Those were all sweet albums, but it’s been so very long since I saw something reviewed on RapReviews, Punknews or Pitchfork that I really thought looked cool, that I haven’t got nearly enough new music going to keep me happy.

I guess I do have a bunch of older stuff that I never really got into, probably because I never put them on my work computer, which is where most of my music gets listened to. Maybe I should just pick up a pile of old stuff that isn’t on here and throw that on. That will require getting rid of a bunch of stuff though, but I need to do that anyways for some new work programs. This is quite a dilemma.

Other inane music stuff:
- The beats on Demon Days are bananas. Between that and Gnarls Barkley’s St. Elsewhere I think that Danger Mouse is destined to be a top-tier producer. As if The Grey Album hadn’t already proved that. He should challenge 9th Wonder to a produce-off.
- In Flames are coming to Saskatoon, but I don’t get to see them because work is lame. I will have to console myself with their new album, of which the three tracks I have heard all kill. That is one poorly constructed sentence.
- This is the best folk/protest song I have ever heard. Listen to it once and tell me you aren’t on your way to find out who Rachel Corrie was. Or maybe you already know who she was, in which case this Billy Bragg song should strike a chord. That man is a genius.
- Web off of Tipping Point is probably my favourite Black Thought rap ever (today). Shit is gutta. I’ve been calling shit gutta ever since I heard Funk Flex call the singing on Papoose’s Sharades gutta. It sounds absolutely ridiculous when he says it, so it makes me smile when I get bust it out. How can singing be gutta? I can’t figure it out. And then on the next chorus Flex talks over it and says “ Keep it loose, Dunkin Donuts style, keep it loose. I had the lieutenants up on the Krispy Kreme, ya heard they stepped their game up. On some real expensive donut action. No doubt!” I have no idea why but that shit crack me up. I want to get on the radio and say retarded shit over songs. That would be gutta.
- I’m going to see The Strokes this weekend. I can’t really picture what they will be like in a large venue. I sometimes think bands like that should just book a small club for a week and play there every night so no one misses them. It can’t be the same vibe in an old hockey rink as some dive bar. I’m pretty sure the latter would be more enjoyable.

And that’s about it. Looks like me and the inferno are coming down to Saskatoon for the long weekend. Be on the lookout for a kid on a dope longboard careening into traffic and whatnot. So far I only know that Mike and Leo are in town, but if anyone else is going to be around you should drop me a line.

Peace.

*edit* - did I mention Halo 3?

Sorry K-Dawg, but that's the night my buddy Leo plays at Lydia's. I'm afraid that trumps hippie sports fundraisers.
