The opposite of the big fucking cars and planes you drive

I miss everybody. Here's some crap I want to talk about.

Peter Beste’s Photography
- I love the work this dude does. He has his photography broken down into music scenes (eg. Norwegian black metal, grime, Houston) and it is all extremely awesome.

Fecal Face has an interview up with Jason Lee, one of my favourite people ever.

I wanted to talk about Islands, who I saw play a couple weeks ago. Prior to the show I hadn’t given their cd too much thought, but after checking them out live I can’t stop playing it. There are tons of little things that I don’t think the average person would pick up listening to the cd, that are very apparent during the live show. If I was articulate I would be able to explain some of these, but I will just say go check them out if you have a chance.

Also, these are the albums I am currently rocking out to:
The Hold Steady – Boys and Girls In America
The Shins – Wincing The Night Away
Islands – Return to the Sea
So Many Dynamos – Flashlight
Thunderbirds Are Now! – Make History
Tokyo Police Club – A Lesson In Crime

On a completely different tip, I recently read through 5 months of Razorblade Runner (rather than doing some sweet CASB), which happens to be the blog of one Rollie Pemberton of Pitchfork reviewing fame (maybe it’s infamy, but I can’t get their archive to work, so I couldn’t check any of his old reviews), who happens to be one Cadence Weapon. I thought it was interesting because I like the crap he put on there, and the way he write his reviews, but I can’t get into his music. I’m of a mind that I should like his stuff because I’m typically down for dance influenced beats and fast raps. Especially if I like the dude’s writing. Logically it seems like I should be a fan of the guy, but somewhere along the way I decided I wasn’t going to be down with him and now I can’t bring myself to enjoy what he’s got.

I am actually currently listening to Sharks off the Breaking Kayfabe album and it is doing very little for me. Maybe it is the beat. Yeah this beat is garbage. I think it would be fun to make a beat like this, but damn does it not work for me. Actually I shouldn’t be in any kind of position to critique a beat like that. Oh well, you can’t be down with everything I guess.

And to keep this trainwreck moving, a list of things I’ve been doing lately:
- Listening to The Hold Steady’s Boys and Girls in America
- Waiting for Martin Havlat to come back and return the Blackhawk’s to their (very) early season form
- Spending last Saturday snowboarding up at Sunshine, and subsequently being very sore
- Sleeping through work functions
- Cheering for any hockey team residing in Alberta
- Staring at blank word documents that should be full of CASB tasks
- Patiently waiting to see Akrobatik and Mr. Lif in the flesh (Nov 21!). You should all be jealous.
- Trying to finish this stupid post.

Peace.
