Cold as numbers but let's dance

Things I want to share with everyone I know:

- Metric puts on an incredible show. I saw them Monday night and I am more certain than ever that Emily Haines is an angel. Seriously. I have never been disappointed in their show, and this time I even enjoyed the openers. The Pants Situation covered Neutral Milk Hotel’s Holland, 1945, and Frosted Tipz covered Iron Maiden’s Hallowed Be Thy Name (one and the same as the song from Jamie Thomas’s part in Welcome To Hell).

- Girl Talk is the ultimate music. The best decription I have is from some blog where the guy (or girl) said "It's like "Name That Tune" and the best party you've ever been to rolled up into a little CD for you to take wherever you go". Night Ripper is probably the greatest chopped up (illegal) sample music that will ever be made. You can pick some up at the illegal art website, or his Myspace page if you are so inclined. I highly, highly, highly recommend checking this out. It will twist your mind up.

- I spend a lot of time reading shit on the Do or Die site, and Eco Action. I normally don’t like to talk about that stuff, but I thought maybe someone might be interested. It took me about five years to actually go vegetarian. I bet it takes me twenty actually take any kind of action. A good starting point for anyone wanting to actually read up on Earth Warriors and all that jazz is Do or Die’s interview with Rod Caronado “My Heroes Have Always Killed Cowboys. It’s a good something to read to provide a balance for all the Stampede bullshit going on here, plus the man is an incredible person. Another good read is The Politics of Extinction by Captain Paul Watson of the Sea Sheppard (and maybe one of the guys who helped found Greenpeace).

- I have a week off coming up. I’ll be near Saskatoon, but not in Saskatoon. Apologies to anyone who may have actually wanted to see me. I’m going to do my best to get back to there sometime in the near future. I also owe a bunch of people e-mails but I have had some kind of block on e-mailing lately. I will get back to you eventually just give me some time.

Hope everyone is having a great summer.

Peace.

I’ll survive because that’s what I do best

Haven’t done much writing lately. I blame that entirely on the heat. It is obviously far too hot everywhere these days to accomplish anything of substance, be it at work or at home. This is why I have been surviving off veggie burgers, kraft dinner and Vietnamese subs for the past week. And slurpees. Anyone who has ever seen me in a really hot climate (Palm Beach, Kelowna, etc) knows that I don’t deal well with the heat.

That being said, I have done lots of stuff lately that hasn’t been written about. I’ve been to LA, the lake and numerous watering holes in between. None of this actually warrants a detailed account, so you will just have to use your imaginations to come up with all the cool things a kid like me could do in those places.

Upcoming events on the music tip include Dashboard, Metric and at some point Wolf Parade. The first two I have seen before, and all I really have to say about them is that I’m pretty sure I am more excited to see Metric than Dashboard. On the other hand, The Wolf Parade is one of those bands that I definitely grew into, meaning I missed them the last time they came through. Their CD “Apologies to the Queen Mary” is one of the cds I played incessantly on my trip to Palm Beach, and now they are permanently associated in my head.

So I got distracted by work for about 3 hours there and now I don’t really know where I was going with what I was writing. As such it ends here. I’ll try harder next time.

And I leave you with a music video that may or may not be terrible. Or awesome. I need to watch it a few more times to figure it out.

Peace.
