I walk on fifty foot stilts built on raw skill

There appears to be a decisive lack of bands (I want to see) swinging through Calgary these days. For some reason, we aren’t getting hit on any of the winter touring schedules. So far my 2007 concert viewing has consisted of Emily Haines, and I think that’s it. Now the Emily Haines show happened to be one of the best concerts I have been to in recent memory, and not just because I am in love with her. She played everything off Knives Don’t Have Your Back and a Neil Young cover. It was a really good show to see.

The line up of bands coming through is looking pretty sparse as well. Right now I only have tickets to Do Make Say Think and Propagandhi. I’m sure some more will pop up, but it has been fairly lacking.

I don’t really have much else to say so here are a couple bands I would like to see come through, posted in all their shitty home video youtube glory. I think my love for shitty quality live videos stems from my days making mixtapes for the corolla and Mike’s chevette. I had a shitty little tape deck hooked up to a computer and it made everything sound like it was bootlegged. I really like the sound

So Many Dynamos – Search Party

Menomena – Wet and Rusting (you gotta wait until 1:30 for the good stuff here)

Forward Russia – Fifteen Part 2

Zion I – Silly Puddy

But mostly I want to see these guys:

The Hold Steady – You Little Hoodrat Friend

Yeah, I’d be pretty happy if I got to see any of these folks this year. Or The Fjords. Or Leo. My place is still open for crashing by the way.

Peace.

Sit tight, don't slack, just bought a Cadillac

Things I drank today:
- 1 glass of chocolate milk
- 1 box of apple juice
- 8 bottles of water
- 1 travel mug of breakfast tea
- 1 grande bold
- 1 grande pumpkin spice latte
- 2 cans of ginger ale
- 1 more glass of chocolate milk

I think I was dehydrated.

One day I'll get my Caddy.

Peace.

Parasitic music industry, as it destroys itself

This is me keeping people posted on how ridiculous shit is these days.

So the feds just picked up DJ Drama of Gansta Grillz fame on pirating charges. Check out the stories and the video and then tell me if trying to support your favourite artists is worth supporting bullshit trade groups like the RIAA. Bringing SWAT in to take down a mix-tape studio? Specifically mentioning that there were no drugs or alcohol found, but they wouldn’t have been surprised if there had been? That is some stereotypin racial bullshit. I can’t believe this shit sometimes.

Nah Right post - check the comments for some better insight.

You’ve got nothing to say and that scares me
