Ride with my top down so I’m closer to God

I wrote up something good, but instead of putting that up I am putting up something quick, just so Laura has to post something too.

I saw Jackass 2 on Monday. Two words for you if you haven’t seen it yet: horse cum. And now you know what you’re gonna do tonight.

This song is stuck in my head like a motherfucker, and the video is one of the classiest things I have ever seen. Actually it is pure eye candy.

As a side note, I had no idea Scott Storch looked like such a little shithead.

I also got an e-mail a couple days ago saying that the efile service for doing your taxes shuts down on Friday. I should probably get on doing those.

So yeah…. Shout Out Out Out Out plays Saturday. Watch how awesome it will be.

Peace.

God damn the black night with all it's foul temptation

So I started CASB again today. I am now officially two years behind everyone I started with at work in terms of getting my designation. How awesome is that? In any case, I do actually need to pass this time, which is why I am currently at work on Labour Day reading up on legal letters (for the third time). This time through CASB is going to be different though, because I have figured out how to get rid of my main distraction when it comes to studying/doing homework.

I used to agonize over what kind of music I needed to play to get in the right mood to study. I’m talking about spending the first hour of my study time ploughing through iTunes looking for that perfect song or album. And when I did find it and it played through I would be back at the beginning. I’m not going to let that happen this time, because instead of choosing the music myself, I’m letting some super computer thing do it.

A while back I was reading one of those in flight magazines and they had an article on the Music Genome Project, which I found interesting. They went on to talk about different internet sites dedicated to helping people find new music. The first one they listed was one I already used (last.fm), but there was another that was mentioned that wasn’t quite up and running yet, but sounded like a great idea. Pandora is a project where you punch in an artist or a song and they try to match up that song to a bunch of others based on technical shit like tonalities, chromatic harmony, and syncopation (among many others). I don’t know what those words mean, but so far Pandora has done me nothing but good, and you get the option of rating the songs to tailor the station more to your liking. I only have two stations (the artists I searched) because I don’t want to end up with a ton of crap to search through. So while studying I now listen to bands that sound like Explosions in the Sky or The Bad Plus. That’s it and maybe now that I am done writing this I can see how it will work for studying.

Good luck to all the kids writing the UFE. I’ll be there to help anyone in Calgary party when it’s over.

Peace.
